Hi everyone,
I've had quite a few people ask me the last year or so in particular, about HOW TO LINKEDIN properly. If you use LinkedIn to prospect as an advisor, it might be worth reading the bit below.
Most advisors tell me that they post something, they get a few views at best...and if you exclude views or likes from work or industry colleagues and maybe some bosses who try to also like, share and support (and rightfully so), then views are really nothing really worth mentioning at all...
Well, I have been on LinkedIn pretty much since Pa fell off the bus. I jumped on board back in 2007 and currently sit with 29K+ connections and followers and growing. What I can tell you is that I have learnt a LOT over the last 14 years and I STILL learn new things about LinkedIn almost every day.
I am a fairly savvy IT person with practical programming & hard coding experience, a web development qualification and hands-on SEO experience since the very first 14.7KB and later 56 KB/ s dialup modems...let's just say I find my way around technology and platforms fairly well and I enjoy sharing tricks and tips where I can.
Perhaps you're still a bit in the dark wondering what all the fuss is about with regards to LinkedIn?
Well, LinkedIn has about 740million+ members, and most of these folks are decision makers and professional business people...unlike FaceBook where everyone including Granny, Uncle Bob, the dog and everybody in-between has an account.
If you've NOT properly tapped into this great business platform as a financial advisor, you're simply missing out. Only an estimated 1% of the total 740 mil membership post regularly (ie at least once a week)...so its a GREAT opportunity to get your message out and SEEN if you work at it and stay consistent with good content.
You can see check our some recent LinkedIn stats by clicking here. It's well worth spending a bit of time seeing exactly what it is you could be missing out on.
I just so happen to be in recruitment, but if you for some or other reason still have the impression that LinkedIn is primarily a JOB search engine or a modern style CV type site, you're again missing the boat by MANY miles!
Look folks, we're obviously in a very specialized and niche market industry, so even I don't get hundreds of thousands, let alone millions of views on posts, BUT I'm quite happy with my targeted approach and I get results.
Sure, it is a bit unfair that some Ukrainian blonde bombshell living on a farm in Bulgaria posts pics of a cow licking her cute puppy and get zillions of views on just about any platform for that matter...but then again, we kind of understand why that is, I don't even try and compete with that.
See a recent post of mine below, just as an example, with a few simple stats that gives me a very basic idea of who's viewing. It WORKS and although analytics on LinkedIn is actually fairly basic, it gives me an idea of where I'm at.
Doing what I do-, HOW I do it, means that I don't have to pick up any phones or ever cold call anyone to prospect...because I don't HAVE to. If you do prospecting on LinkedIn right, you wouldn't have to EITHER!
Happy to share ideas with those who support me, you know where to find me and feel free to connect or follow me at: https://www.linkedin.com/in/fi... 👍😎
