Together with the 3DCFTAs Project, EaP CSF organised the online webinar: “New Year's message from West to Eastern Europe: beware an Omicron tsunami” on 26 January 2022.

The webinar debated the current epidemiological developments, adequacy of vaccine supplies for the region, and restrictive measures introduced by the governments. Moreover, the economic impact of the pandemic and progress towards recovery, as well as its impact on political regimes in the region was explored. Find more information here.

The EaP CSF Secretariat supports the projects within its Re-granting to Members (FSTP) programme, which is distributed via three lots. Lot 1 is aimed at monitoring of the new EaP deliverables and targets as defined in the Joint Staff Working Document, while Lot 2 supports projects addressing the Forum’s strategic advocacy priorities. Lot 3 aims to support the work of EaP CSF member organisations to develop and deliver on the strategic policy and capacity building priorities of the Forum within the regional dimension and strengthen mutual learning between the members.

ADC Memorial has continued to work on several initiatives in line with the re-granting project on promoting modern international standards of children's rights. Some project results are:

• A video clip devoted to the problem of torture and violence against children in closed institutions
  
• Final program by Magnolia-TV, dedicated to the problems of children in places of deprivation of liberty in Ukraine, the probation and prevention system
• Animation devoted to the rights of migrant children to family life and education, the problem of separation from their parents and immigration detention in closed institutions – orphanages, police reception centers, hospitals
• llustrated web-publication School crisis and the rights of the child on the challenges related to the negative impact of pandemic and hostile environment on children in closed institutions
  

Within the framework of the project ”Preparation of Policy Paper for Management of Transboundary Emerald Sites of Ukraine, the Republic of Belarus and Republic of Moldova” CO Interecocentre, PA EcoContact and Bahna published a policy paper. It contains an analysis of the current situation and availability of species in the Emerald areas situated transboundary with Moldova-Ukraine-Belarus and includes a list of recommendations and proposals for legislation improvement for each country separately.

The Experts for Security and Global Affairs (ESGA) published an analytical commentary on the recent negotiations regarding the situation at Ukraine’s Eastern borders. This piece was established within the EaP CSF re-granting project “The unresolved conflicts from Georgia, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine. A common EaP and EU vision for reconciliation and confidence-building across the region”. Read more here.

After the 6th Eastern Partnership Summit that took place on 15 December 2021, the Ukrainian National Platform assessed the results of the event in a statement. While the UNP welcomes the holding of the Summit, it also states that by the next Eastern Partnership Summit, both the EU and partner states should take measures to further deepen cooperation and form effective mechanisms to achieve new Eastern Partnership priorities by 2025. The EaP CSF Georgian National Platform supports the process of national accord initiated by the President of Georgia Salome Zurabishvili. The political crisis and polarisation in Georgia hinder the European development of the country and the pursuit of the common goal related to Georgia’s European and Euro-Atlantic future. The GNP hopes that steps like this will help to resolve the political crisis. Access the statement here.

In order to improve institutional capacities to tackle major societal challenges of Danube Region territories, the Danube Transnational Programme (DTP) is launching the ENI call for proposals, looking for transnational projects contributing to the development of a more innovative, better accessible and sustainable Danube region. The EU Confidence Building Measures Programme, funded by the European Union and implemented by UNDP Moldova, has announced the launch of a new grants competition for business support organisations, industry associations or non-governmental organisations. Selected organisations will help businesses on both banks of the Nistru river jointly to address the existing challenges exacerbated by the COVID-19 crisis. The proposed projects have to come up with an innovative solution to an existing problem, common to the business environment on both banks of the Nistru.
