Illinois Swimming had a jam packed June! This newsletter contains all the excitement from Olympic Trials, recent Team Illinois meets & camps and a preview of upcoming events!

Illinois Swimming kicked off Project LA, a unique progressive camp series leading our athletes, coaches and parents towards the LA Olympics in 2028!

A successful event, with over one hundred 11-14 year old athletes in attendance! An 2 day overnight camp held at Stevenson High School June 8-9th, athletes participated in sessions focusing on teambuilding, in-water training, mental health & sports performance. Most notably, the athletes were able to learn from and send off the 18&U Olympic Trials Qualifiers!

Coaches from all clubs across Illinois Swimming were also invited to a Coaches Track featuring Chris Martin, 1992 Olympic Team Coach and 6 time USA Swimming National Team Coach. Parents of attendees were also invited to the Parent Track on Mental Health & Sports Performance featuring Amy Oliphant, founder of @transcendmentaltraining.

Over 70 athletes from Illinois Swimming came together to compete as one team against the Central Zone at Center Grove High School in Indiana June 14-16th.

Before taking home 2nd place in the mens, womens and team categories, these athletes cheered on Illinois Swimming at Olympic Trials opening night, sitting just rows behind the starting blocks!

Illinois Swimming Athlete Representatives Bridget McGann (ACAD), Lindsay Forebaugh (FMC) and Elyse Newlands (NTA) attended this year's summit hosted at Butler University June 19-23. They learned about leadership, marketing, sports medicine and careers in swimming. They also got to participate in fun in-water sessions, tour Lucas Oil Stadium and attend Olympic Trials!!
