Are you ready for some SCORP? Speaking of "streaking by," another four-year period has come and gone and it is time once again to check in with the Statewide Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan. 

The draft of the 2025-2029 SCORP is now available for review and comment on DCNR's website (and by a click to the pic), where you can also register for five informational webinars set to take place between 2/3 and 3/3 - one each on the five priority areas set forth in the draft plan.  

I know it's popular to say that "a picture is worth a thousand words." But I think it's also pretty great to hear the words of the people who take the pictures and a visit to our News blog will give you the stories of the pictures from all the winning photographers in the 2024 photo contest.

We hope they will inspire you to enter this year's contest!

[And, if I may add a "point of personal preference," I was really tickled to read the message from Gloria Benfer. Gloria has been a PPFF member and friend for a very long time, entering the contest every year and just generally sharing great memories with us. It is wonderful to know that one of those lovely young women reading the map at Shikellamy is, as we suspected, her granddaughter Chloe. Because, you see, Chloe was the subject of one of our all-time favorite photographs submitted to the "Kids in the Outdoors" category way back in 2014. We have never been able to find a better advertisement for the Pennsylvania State Parks & State Forests Passport!]

Previous Fridays have noted the recruitment currently underway for this year's PA Outdoor Corps. This week we'd like to put in a plug for the Cultural Resource Crew of the Corps. 

The unique and very specific mission for this crew is great for history buffs and archaeologist types who want to investigate the people and places that brought us to this current version of Pennsylvania.
