ART LIVING NEWS

IN THE FLOW OF ARTFUL LIVING

There's this focus that, once it becomes intense, leads to a sense of ecstasy, a sense of clarity.

- Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi

When in flow, time dilates. We enter a state of timelessness, where our perception of time passing changes and hours run as if they were minutes. In our flow at KALPA Galleries, we enjoy both a state of mindfulness and complete involvement in our mission, opening to visitors the doors of our restored and expanded galleries, home of precious paintings and artworks in alabaster, bronze, ceramics and wood. We welcome new international collaborations, from art consultancy projects in prestigious private locations and hotels, to publications in some of the most cutting-edge magazines in the fields of architecture, art living and interior design.

REVEALING NEW GALLERY SPACES

A SOPHISTICATED AND ELEGANT ATMOSPHERE, SOBER AND MINIMALISTIC FURNITURE AND WARM NEUTRAL TONES, KALPA GALLERIES’ REOPENED MAIN SPACE IN THE HISTORICAL PALAZZO BONOMINI IN VIA PORTA ALL’ARCO IS AN IN-PROGRESS PROJECT GIVING A PLATFORM FOR VARIOUS ARTS IN ITS TIME-HALLOWED ROOMS.

This past July, we have reached a new step in the recovery of Palazzo Bonomini's labyrinthine interiors and reopened to the public our enlarged exhibition space on the ground floor, ranging from luminous high rooms to mesmerising underground brick vaults and age-old stone walls. In our constant quest for beauty, the Palazzo is slowly showing its inner nature, the traces left by the passage of time, its secrets and ancient whispers.

A few steps away from this XV century building, we have also managed to restore a former artisan workshop, opening a second KALPA Galleries venue in Via Porta all’Arco. In recent times, this street was occupied by alabaster workshops, and today it is enjoying a renaissance filled with art windows, abundant plant and flower decorations and a new generation of talented artisans and lifestyle projects.

RED DUSK IN VOLTERRA

A SPECIAL EVENING OF CULTURE IN OUR ANCIENT TOWN

One night to discover historical archives, private and noble residencies, hidden corners and monuments; one night dedicated to culture, to concerts and exhibitions, to poetry and theatre. Volterra's yearly event Red Dusk - La Notte Rossa will be on the 10th of September, when the historical centre of the city, including our Via Porta all’Arco and Palazzo Bonomini, will be illuminated with red light. Red as the sunset above the Tuscan hills and as the famous painter Rosso Fiorentino, red as wine, passion and fire.

During this special event, visitors to KALPA Galleries are welcomed until late evening, to enjoy the ambience of a classical music quartet, promoted in collaboration with the current owner of Palazzo Bonomini, the Polesello Family.

THE LAST DAYS OF AEVUM

INVOLVING CONTEMPORARY ARTISTS TO CONFRONT OUR CULTURAL MEMORY MEANS REFLECTING ON THE CIRCULARITY OF HISTORY AND ART.

There are few days left to visit AEVUM, the first exhibition of three annual programme TIMELESS ENCOUNTERS | ETRUSCAN AND CONTEMPORARY ART, set in the historical Palazzo dei Priori until 4th of September.

In the exhibition, art and its visual languages re-affirm their eternal nature and succeed in transcending temporal, physical and linguistic obstacles, presenting a dialogue between three Etruscan pieces from the Guarnacci Etruscan Museum and the works by ceramist Akiko Hirai (Japan/UK) and painter Eleanor Herbosch (Belgium).

AMAN NEW YORK: NOW OPEN

A NEW URBAN SANCTUARY FILLED WITH ART FROM KALPA

Heralding a new era for hospitality in one of the world’s greatest cities, AMAN’s newest destination is now open. AMAN New York celebrates Aman's philosophy of creating sanctuaries beyond commonplace notions of luxury, whilst paying homage to the building's striking architecture and significant history. Since 1921, the Crown Building has presided over the midpoint of Manhattan, the corner of Fifth Avenue and 57th Street. Formerly the first home of the Museum of Modern Art, the 100-year-old building has undergone a monumental transformation, which has seen it fully restored to its original splendour and imbued with the inimitable spirit of AMAN.

KALPA has been contributing to this amazing project for almost two years, providing unique art consultancy: research, advisory, sourcing and installation supervision. We have been bringing to these stunning interiors a great selection of artworks from numerous artists worldwide, many of them have been strategically commissioned to create "bespoke" art pieces specifically designed for the property's key spaces.

An invitation to switch off from the outside world, the Japanese-inspired interiors and the significant presence of refined art in AMAN New York bring balance and harmony to all the visitors of this remarkable space and a true art living experience.
