Stay tuned for DIAMOND’s engagement activities |

As DIAMOND is moving towards its second stage of operation, a series of workshops will be organised, first to facilitate model co-development (i.e., designing and expanding modelling capabilities with the community), and second to enable co-creation (i.e., using the models with and for the community to address pertinent societal research and policy questions).
In the first workshop, which is scheduled for mid-June, we aim to foster the right conditions for modellers and stakeholders to work together toward mutually understanding which issues are useful and feasible to analyse with the available IAM capabilities, and consequently guiding planned improvements.
In May, we will circulate official invitations and details on the planned activities. Stay tuned for more news!

The General Assembly 2024 of the European Geosciences Union (EGU24) took place in Vienna, Austria and online, in April 14–19, 2024. Constituting one of the most prestigious conferences on climate science, the event welcomed more than 20,000 participants, with numerous presentations, sessions, and posters.
The project had strong presence at the conference, with DIAMOND colleagues co-chairing sessions and presenting their work about equity, gender, health, and other co-benefits, stakeholder engagement and inclusivity, and thematic topics around IAM research:
- Sampedro, J., Khan, Z., Mittal, S., Kikstra, J. Incorporating equity, gender, health and other co-benefits into NEXUS and IAM research, 2024 [ITS3.27/ERE6.6 session]

In the new scientific article ‘Advancing participatory energy systems modelling’, a strong collaboration with colleagues from diverse scientific fields shared knowledge and promoted participatory processes in modelling, outputting a set of good practice principles and offering critical reflections on the key issues within this emergent field. DIAMOND contributed to this endeavour, while committing to operationalise these good practice principles in its ongoing and future activities.
Furthermore, colleagues from the Basque Centre for Climate Change (BC3) and the University of Maryland (UMD), in collaboration with PNNL and JGCRI, recently published ‘gcamreport’ , an open-access R tool to process and standardise GCAM outputs. The tool systematises the transformations of GCAM outputs, generates figures to facilitate the analysis of the results, and allows user interaction with the produced outputs, while at the same time respecting FAIR and TRUST principles. The tool constitutes a significant contribution to the GCAM community and will be particularly useful in the DIAMOND project’s effort to develop GCAM-Europe. You can freely download the tool here: https://github.com/bc3LC/gcamreport
