Signs of the Season
In Provence, April is the time to savour asparagus, green onions, fresh lettuce, peas, spring lamb and strawberries. Usually, Carpentras celebrates the strawberry crop with the family-friendly Fête de la Fraise in April. Sadly, this year it was cancelled due to Covid-19.
As the virus makes its deadly march around the globe, the creativity and opportunities to connect virtually are uplifting. Martine, at Goût et Voyage, is busy refining her tour details for Christmas and 2021 while cooking French food. Tasha of Pitcher & Powell is creating magic from her pantry - discover her recipe for a Moroccan carrot salad. And, if you (like myself) are dreaming of Provence, visit from afar - arts, books, French lessons and more.
Whether you live in Provence or plan on visiting, enjoy the bounty of local produce in peak season. Perhaps Easter weekend is the time to discover the Mediterranean spice road and our new spring menu curated by David Scott Allen of Cocoa & Lavender.
