Kalispera
And another year is unbelievably almost over!
We had a productive year in many respects but not without a few challenges.
Some of you may know about the many changes to the Google Algorithm that have affected websites like mine and the rise and rise of AI continues to see a shift in how people plan their travel. I have been far less affected than many, so publishing new content and building an engaged community remain my focus with renewed attention to the Podcast and a few new offerings coming in 2025.
There were three big highlights for us in 2024
- We became grandparents in June. Rafa has been an absolute delight and we can't wait to spoil him for his first Christmas.
- Our 7-week trip to Europe in August was amazing. I know I say that every trip, but something about the people we met this year made it extra special. While every destination was fantastic the highlights were probably Samos Island, Sivota and Zagori on the mainland and revisiting Rethymnon in Crete. And visiting our sponsor donkeys in Crete too! Some truly special people run their sanctuary.
- I was hugely proud to be asked to be a speaker on a Ritz Carlton Cruise, from Athens to Istanbul, which not only went well but truly lived up to its reputation as a premier small cruise operator. It was insane!
- We also spent a week in Portugal during that trip, and it was amazing. We spent four nights in Lisbon and three in Porto and loved everything about it: the port, the wine, the Duoro Valley, the history, and it's pretty affordable, too. I highly recommend it.
I am now deep in planning mode for next year and have booked flights for September. So far we know we have a week on Paros and Leros, and a few days in Thessaloniki, Syros and Santorini but there is a week wide open too. Love this part!
As we take a break over Christmas ( and to celebrate my mum's 80th birthday on Boxing Day) we wish you safe and happy travels to you and yours over this time.
Yammas,
Sandy
As always, don't forget the great planning resources on the website.
