Based on writing from Kyra Gaunt's forthcoming book, PLAYED: How Music Orchestrates Violence Against Black Girls Online, this keynote explains how YouTube can help us understand the hidden musicianship of Black girls and women on the musical Internet and the unintended consequences of sexist music and tech. Using case studies from YouTube, the adverse consequences of tween twerking in the bedroom musical play is explained.
