Issue 71- July 31, 2020

Hello Friends-

"Welcome back to "The Cre8tive Life"- your weekly newsletter full of lifestyle tips, smiles, and musings.

For me, this past week has been a mixture of me trying to force myself to work on a home reorganization project, and doing some of my other regular mentions in between (making art, attending virtual events, and watching a medley of things on YouTube, Netflix, etc).

Additionally, I completed my month long daily chess class (which I am actually quite sad about), and conducted a food experiment making cinnamon rolls in my air fryer. I am still pretty much operating in a Phase 1 of quarantine life here, and only really go out for my necessary grocery runs. I have been living vicariously through my friends (with cars) who have been taking some fun road trips of exploration. I really wish I could get away...and, I look forward to that (hopeful) day when that can be the norm...But, alas, I am making the most fun I can within my walls of isolation for the time being. How are you holding up? I'd love to hear about what's going on in your life, and what is bringing you joy in these times!

Random stories, pictures, video highlights, and other life musings can be found on my personal instagram page (@e101) and official brand page (@thecre8tiveartisan) throughout the week (when/if I end up posting anything).

*And, if you have missed any previous newsletters, feel free to check out the archive section on my website: HERE.

Continued prayers that you and your loved ones stay safe and healthy

(mentally & physically) out there 💗.

My weekly (random) compilation of some of my favorite "cre8tive" things that I want to share:

  • FAVORITE WORD: Stultify (v): cause to lose enthusiasm and initiative, especially as a result of a tedious or restrictive routine.

  • ADVICE: “If you limit your choices only to what seems possible or reasonable, you disconnect yourself from what you truly want, and all that is left is a compromise." - Robert Fritz

  • MOOD MUSIC: I've been in quite a reflective state as of late; so, it seems pretty fitting that I've been leaning into John Coltrane & Duke Ellington's, "In A Sentimental Mood."

  • QUARANTINE RECOMMENDATION: I started watching "Dirty Money" (a true life "investigative series that exposes brazen acts of corporate greed and corruption") a little while back, and found it absolutely fascinating. I highly recommend it for people who like exposé type documentaries.

  • THE MORE YOU KNOW: I've always been deeply touched by John Lewis, and his life story. The mission of his work and quality of his character were the markers of true humanity. I personally had the chance to experience the "magic" of his spirit many years ago when I met him at a conference. He was the real deal and treated everyone (including me) with the mark of true presence, kindness, and humility. I watched him offer this to all he encountered- regardless of their title and/or stature. There is A LOT to learn about (and from) him; but, I felt like THIS might be a good little share for this week. As well as, these parting words that he intentionally penned, and wanted to be published on the day of his funeral.

  • LIFESTYLE TIP: It seems like sooooo many people I know have gotten into the Peloton craze over quarantine as a way try to keep up with their exercise regimen. And, while it's not "my thing," I was able to score a coveted discount code for anyone who is caught up in the matrix. You can use the promotion code: VXZN4H to score $100 off anything in the Peloton Accessories page. Ride and be merry!

  • FEEL GOOD SHARE: I'm definitely not one to keep up with a lot of sports info- but, I thought this story of Kansas City Chiefs', Laurent Duvernay-Tardif, was pretty worthy of sharing. He made the very recent decision to opt out of playing in the 2020 season (and defending their current Super Bowl title) to be on the frontline team of helping others fight COVID-19.

This week's challenge is to tap back into something that you enjoyed that you haven't done in a long time.

I have some new and exciting community virtualizations that I will be hosting in the upcoming weeks! Be on the lookout for more info!
