PFI Displays is Wayne County's hidden little secret, providing a unique service that helps bring brands to life. Despite recently changing consumer habits and market uncertainty caused by COVID 19, these values have helped the company remain nimble and resilient.

We spoke with Vice President of Business Development, Vince Tricomi, to learn more about the company’s process as well as what makes them tic.

From its inception in 1970, PFI Displays has been a family-run business driven by the motto – No One Will Outwork Us. This identity, originally set in place by founder Jim Tricomi, is reflected not only in the company’s capabilities, but also in its reputation among customers who value their dedication and precision.

“It’s something my grandfather always said and it’s the cornerstone of us as a company,” said Tricomi. “Whether it's grit or it's elbow grease, whatever you want to call it, we bring a tenacious work ethic to the table for our customers.”

D+S Distribution celebrates 37 years of service in 2023. The privately held company with local ownership began in 1986 as a regional transportation provider for Rubbermaid and Volvo by founder Bill DeRodes. Today the company’s unique supply chain service solutions support local, national and international companies inside the automotive and manufacturing segment, international business, corrugated and packing arena plus retail and consumer products area.

In 2015, DeRodes transferred his shares to Jon Ansel as president/owner and Kevin Trent as vice president. Ansel and Trent, along with the rest of the D+S executive team, have extensive experience in logistics, strategic planning, information technology and transportation.

Accredited in the United States as a Top 100 3PL, D+S Distribution’s clients can choose from a variety of value-added services. “We’re always thinking of ways to help manufacturers improve processes to be faster to market,” stated Trent. Over 80 percent of the client base utilizes the company’s specialized services such as kitting, assembly, Just-In-Time (JIT) sequencing, packing and fulfillment.

Integrated Logistics Services (ILS), the company’s affiliated transportation company, was established in 1989 to service existing customers. Today it is a full-service transportation management enterprise with both a fleet and brokerage division offering truckload, LTL, international, air, intermodal and expedited transportation solutions.

During COVID, D+S Distribution sustained a 10 percent annual growth. “Customized integration is key,” stated Ansel. “We are an extension of our customer’s business model.” Growth came from new clients and existing clients according to Ansel. The ability to adapt to the e-commerce explosion was a significant, strategic advantage.
