I have been particularly struck lately by how many people suffer from anxiety and fear about money.
This is not confined only to those who have very little money or who have problem debt. It also exists in those who others may objectively view as having a lot of money. In these instances, the fear is often around it not being enough or that they will lose it by making a financial mistake or wrong decision.
Whatever the reason for your fear or anxiety about money, know that these are common emotions. While there is no magic switch to turn them off, acknowledging them is a big first step to easing the worry and suffering they cause and allowing you to move forward with more clarity and confidence.
At this time of year, the Easter story reminds us that the hope and light of Easter Sunday would not have been possible without the suffering that preceded it. . My Easter wish for all of us is that our collective anxiety and fear about money may be transformed into a new beginning where we can experience life with renewed hope and joyfulness.
If you are in problem debt, it is not a cross you should carry on your own. Engage with your creditors, contact a debt support agency such as MABS and look after your mental health.
