This summer, Brooke Miller (‘26) served up success, and we’re not just talking about tennis. As a senior studying Marketing Management on the Stamford campus, she interned at the United States Tennis Assocation as a part of the digital analytics team. Brooke is no stranger to hard work and leadership. She was an active member of the Business Connections Learning Community (BCLC) for two years before "...becoming a BCLC ambassador, helping first-year business students with the transition to college from high school,” in addition to "...working at Innovate Labs since the grand opening on the Stamford Campus last fall.” Brooke credits her success to one powerful skill: networking.
She admits that during his first year at UConn, she was quiet and reserved but by seeking out opportunities like taking BUSN 3005 and attending networking events, she began to grow. “I wouldn’t say I’m a professional at it now,” Brooke shared, “Still, I’ve improved significantly since my first time at UConn, and that has helped me a long way with interviews, internships, career fairs, and professional events.”
These skills were on full display during Brooke’s favorite moment of her internship: the USTA X RISE event. Interns and professionals from USTA, RISE and the NFL came together to talk about identity, innovation, and opportunity in the sports industry. “This event helped showcase how representation matters and that it has changed the sports industry in many ways,” Brooke said. After the panel, she leaned into her networking skills and spoke with industry leaders about their experience within the sports industry, conversations that left a lasting impression.
At USTA, her primary responsibilities “included gathering data, such as the top KPIs and Traffic Channels for the US Open Weekly dashboard report, which utilized analytics from the US Open website and app to compare data from previous years.” Taking it even further, Brooke was given the opportunity to create a dashboard report for USTA Missouri Valley regarding their website analytics. “This project was significant to me because it allowed me to explore and analyze a wide range of data related to their online presence, user engagement, and overall website performance. I had complete control over this report, meaning I could decide what information to include, how to structure the report, and what visual elements to incorporate to make the data more accessible and understandable,” Brooke shared, "It was a great experience to be able to work on a project that was entirely my own from start to finish, giving me a sense of ownership and responsibility. This opportunity helped me develop my skills in data analysis, visualization, and report writing, and I felt a real sense of accomplishment seeing the final product come together. This project not only enhanced my technical abilities but also boosted my confidence in handling complex tasks independently.”
Brooke Miller’s journey is a strong example of growth and opportunity. From a quiet first year student to a confident leader, she continues to prove just how far her potential can reach. Just like a tennis champion on the court, she is aiming for the ace. Game, set, match: Brooke Miller.
