3) INFO U NEED 2 KNOW
You know we are always reading and listening to books, articles, and podcasts that we think can help us and you! Here is what we've rounded up lately.
ARTICLE: Why You Should Replace Your New Year's Journal With a Spreadsheet
Okay, okay....we'd NEVER suggest you not have a paper planner, but if
you've taken our course you know that we are big fans of habit
tracking. Why? Because numbers are an objective way for you to look at your life without any sort of emotional charge. Did
you say you were going to exercise three times this week but only did
two? You can tell at a glance if you are hitting your goals.
This author recommends tracking many
more things than we would, however, if you want to know how much time
you spend in the car, then tracking that absolutely makes sense!
The basic point is the same, adding numbers to your goals makes it easy to track your progress.
Instead of saying "I want to spend less time in my car" change that to
"I want to spend less than three hours in my car" and then start
tracking!
4) OUR PODCAST
We revamped Alegre's existing podcast--which talked about many of the same topics BYWD does--and released our first few episodes. Take a listen wherever you get your podcasts! Our latest episode is:
Season 2 Episode 4: Release the old so you can embrace the new!
If you want to "call in" and leave us a voicemail question, we can answer it in an upcoming show. Just go here and click the button that says "+MESSAGE". https://anchor.fm/bywdreams
Listen with Google, Apple, and Spotify.
5) Q&A: "Should I have a separate personal and professional calendar?"
ALEGRE: My
belief is if you can keep everything in one place, it makes it easier
to keep track of things. The only place where someone *might* need a tiny
more space in a pre-printed planner is in the monthly calendar layout. Our suggestion for that is to tape in a second spread. We know moms who do this for their kids' schedules. If you want
to do that, you could separate your personal and professional monthly
calendars. There are lots of free printables for monthly calendars at https://www.typecalendar.com/january-calendar.html
Another solution is to just use one monthly calendar but different pen or pencil colors for personal vs. professional appointments.
6) FAVORITE PLANNING PRODUCTS
Here are some products that make using a paper planner fun and easy. It takes some experimentation to figure out your perfect set-up, so keep trying until you find what works for you.
