For the past seven years, Wall Meat has been an integral part of the Wall community. From a processing plant to a restaurant and now a food trailer, customers come from all over the state to utilize what owners Ken Charfauros and Janet Niehaus created.
While South Dakota is the fifth largest meat producer in the country, it is last when it comes to processing, and Wall Meat's owners are hoping to change that. While they currently operate out of a 54 year old building, Charfauros and Niehaus are hopeful that with help from the Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED), federal grants and investors, they will have a new facility up and running in 16 months.
Charfauros explained that the business’s location is good, the process is good, and he and Niehaus are both ag and S.D. focused.
“In the end, the customer always wins when you do that,” said Charfauros.
