HAVE YOU NOTICED THEY ARE GONE?
For over a decade our church has owned a pair of vehicles, a white Chevrolet van and a white Ford truck. They both sat in the upper parking lot and were seldom used. When the 2024 insurance invoice arrived in December, the Leadership Council took note of the expense and decided it was time to donate (or sell) these vehicles. The cost of insurance and taxes has continued to rise, and getting out of the truck/van business made the most sense.
Several of our church nonprofit partners were considered to be the recipient of the van/truck since they were 15 and 22 years old. We gifted the van to the True Word of God Church (Reverend Pat Starr). It will save this little Clover food bank money each week because they will no longer need to rent a van to pick up food at Food Lion, Publix, and Second Harvest in Charlotte. When the van was delivered to Reverend Starr, she was so excited that she cried, jumped up/down and hugged the driver. And repeated this several times! Our (former) van will now be used each week to bring boxes of food to over 275 families. Church, we did good!
The truck was a little more used than the van. After several discussions with some of our outreach partners, we decided to sell the truck rather than donate it.
The truck now has a new owner, and we no longer have the annual expenses associated with owning vehicles.
