Current Sermon Series
Twenty centuries ago, a church was founded in the city of Corinth in Greece. The Apostle Paul guided the congregation through its infancy, writing letters to help those earliest Christians grow in their newfound faith. One of his letters, 2 Corinthians, gives us a window into some of the challenges the Corinthian church was facing: disunity within the congregation, misguided competition among church leaders and harassment from neighbors. Paul writes to a church he loves dearly, hoping to bring about reconciliation and to will their hearts and minds to the gospel of Jesus Christ. Their struggles are not so different from those we face in 2024, so we hope you'll join us for this teaching series!
The Church is Open February 14th from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Since Ash Wednesday falls on Valentine's Day, we will not have an evening service. The Church Sanctuary will be open to anyone who wants to come for a time of reflection and prayer. Ashes and a devotional will be provided.
March 15th-16th, students in grades 6-12 will make the church their home during a safe, fun, overnight retreat! As we near Easter, they’ll explore the sacrificial love of Jesus and what it looks like to live in response to it as we dive into our theme: “On the Road: Heading to the Cross.” And did we mention it will be fun?! There will be games and activities that build friendships. The cost per student is $40. Please email email@example.com for a registration form. The deadline to register is Sunday, March 10th.
HAVE YOU NOTICED THEY ARE GONE?
For over a decade our church has owned a pair of vehicles, a white Chevrolet van and a white Ford truck. They both sat in the upper parking lot and were seldom used. When the 2024 insurance invoice arrived in December, the Leadership Council took note of the expense and decided it was time to donate (or sell) these vehicles. The cost of insurance and taxes has continued to rise, and getting out of the truck/van business made the most sense.
Several of our church nonprofit partners were considered to be the recipient of the van/truck since they were 15 and 22 years old. We gifted the van to the True Word of God Church (Reverend Pat Starr). It will save this little Clover food bank money each week because they will no longer need to rent a van to pick up food at Food Lion, Publix, and Second Harvest in Charlotte. When the van was delivered to Reverend Starr, she was so excited that she cried, jumped up/down and hugged the driver. And repeated this several times! Our (former) van will now be used each week to bring boxes of food to over 275 families. Church, we did good!
The truck was a little more used than the van. After several discussions with some of our outreach partners, we decided to sell the truck rather than donate it.
The truck now has a new owner, and we no longer have the annual expenses associated with owning vehicles.
