Summer Heat

Welcome back! Ready for Chapter Five of Summer Heat?

Last week Ethan and Marcus had their official meet cute!

Don’t forget that you can catch up on anything you've missed in the Summer Heat archive.

In Chapter Five, Ethan and Marcus create their own heat. This chapter is edited for content to keep the email overall SFW. You’ll have to use your imagination to fill in the blanks. Don’t worry though, when the final chapter releases in November, you’ll have the opportunity to download an unabridged ebook to get all the details of this week’s encounter.

As always, check out the book recommendation I’ve got for you at the bottom of the email.

Chapter Five

No thought required for that answer.

I nodded and the fiery glint in his eyes sent a jolt of desire vibrating through me.

“I thought you were asleep that first night,” he whispered as we walked up the hill. Clearly he didn’t want our conversation overheard. “I saw you, reclined in the chair. I couldn’t make out much, but there you were. I imagined a sexy guy. Then you started jerking, too. That made it hotter.”

“Why’d you seem startled when I went to the railing? You already knew I’d seen you.”

We climbed the stairs to his place.

“I don’t know.” He unlocked his door. “Caught me by surprise.”

“I’m glad you stayed. You’ve got a hot silhouette.”

“So do you.” He let me enter the apartment first, the A/C already working to cool the place down. Goosebumps broke out over my arms as the air hit my warm skin. “So what gets you home so late?”

“I stay on campus as much as possible. Since I’m working on my thesis, it’s easy to just stay in the library until they close.” I took the last drink of my beer. He took the bottle from me and set it and his cup on a side table.

His apartment, not surprisingly, had the same layout as mine and furnished just about as sparsely. A futon and chair sat in front of a mammoth TV, which was perched on a table that looked far too small to hold it. We had similar taste in art too—with none on the walls.

Nervous energy I haven’t felt since I was a teenager built in my chest as I looked around. I couldn’t believe I stood in this guy’s living room with all six-foot-whatever of him and his broad chest. My shorts didn’t hide how much my cock wanted to come out and play. How long until Marcus noticed?

“I’m doing the same, headed towards an MBA. You?” He faced me—eyes locked on mine. In the low light, I couldn’t figure out his eye color, but they were light.

“Journalism, specifically ethics in the electronic age.”

“Can you fix all the crazy stuff that passes as journalism these days?” He ran his hand down my arm, which almost short-circuited my brain.

“Hopefully,” I mumbled. I couldn’t talk school while he touched me. Instead, I ran my hand over his fuzzy chest, brushing my fingers across a nipple. He quaked in response.

He grabbed the hem of my T-shirt and lifted. I offered no resistance, raising my arms so he could slip it off. He dropped it on the couch before pulling me towards him and crushing his lips against mine. It only took a moment for our tongues to get acquainted as we explored each other’s mouths.

Oh, man. He knew how to kiss.

Our warm bodies pressed tightly together, creating a new heat all their own. While I was fine initiating a jerk off session with a stranger, usually shyness overtook me making out with a new guy. That didn’t happen with Marcus. Maybe our few days on the balcony made the difference. Maybe meeting at the party and talking before we got up here kept the awkwardness at bay.

This kissing had my full attention. Moving against him, he had a bulge in his shorts that rivaled mine.

The clothing needed to go.

Marcus lived up to his outline. The definition showed he liked to stay in shape. The broad shoulders were incredible while his muscled arms felt great wrapped around me.

I broke the kiss and took a step back from his embrace, even though I instantly missed it. I unbuttoned and unzipped his shorts.

He went commando. A thatch of trimmed hair greeted me along with a peek of his hard shaft.

That was gonna be fun to play with. His shorts dropped to his ankles. I shed mine as well.

He grinned as he lazily stroked. I mirrored his moves and expression, just as I had during our nighttime sessions.

“It’s a lot better being able to see everything,” he said.

“I should’ve come over a few days ago.”

I hummed in response to his touch.

We couldn’t take our eyes off each other. As waves of pleasure radiated through me from his fingers, I slipped into an erotic trance. He expertly and constantly changed up the rhythm and pressure.

This was sublime, but I wanted more. I slipped out of his grip and dropped to my knees. He took a sharp intake of breath as took him.

I stifled laughter as my mind wandered back to my earlier conversation on sweaty balls.

[Sexy times pass...]

“You’re good at that.”

“Glad you think so.” He stood and offered me a hand. “Let’s get more comfortable.” He led me to the bedroom. The only light came from what filtered in from the living room. He laid down on the bed and pulled me on top of him.

[And more fun times on the bed...]

“E, this is it. No goin’ back.”

And no one called me E. I loved it. My heart kinda melted with the cuteness.

[They have an intensely wonderful time, as you'd expect...]

“I’m glad I found you,” he said. I wanted to roll off, but didn’t want to get his bed messier than it already was. He sensed the hesitation. “Let’s move this to the shower.”

I gently rolled toward the edge of the bed and managed a fairly graceful dismount. It was my turn to offer him the hand up, and we headed to the bathroom. I stepped aside so he could set the shower the way he wanted it.

We took turns under the spray. Once we were clean, we stood under the water kissing.

“Can we go on a proper date sometime?” Marcus asked.

Another answer that required no thought. “I’d like that.”

Just about the time I noticed I was turning into a prune, he turned off the water and we stepped out. He pulled his towel off the rack and handed me a fresh one off the shelf behind the toilet.

“I’ve got to go out to my family’s farm about a half hour from here on Saturday. Come with me? They’re out of town, and I need to take care of a couple things. There’s a lake there. Perfect for skinny dipping to beat this stupid weather. We can bring a picnic, too.”

Any work I’d planned to do Saturday could wait. “Sounds great.”

Usually a first date would be dinner, a bar, a movie or something. Marcus raised the bar considerably with a lake trip.

“It will be.” We padded into the living room, naked, and I grabbed my shorts from the floor. “Why don’t you stay the night? It’s cooler here than sleeping outside and my bed is more comfortable than stretching between those chairs.”

“I’ve got to teach at eight. I’m not sure you want up that early.”

“I’m meeting my advisor at nine, so it’s no problem.”

My brain turned on this question slower than it had about the date. I hadn’t shared a bed with anyone in four years.

What the hell. Why not?

“All right then.” I grinned and let the clothes drop.

“Come on,” he said, with a playful laugh. I happily followed.

Next Friday: It's off to the country...

Fun fact: I worried about this when I initially created this fun fact space... What happens in a week where I have nothing? Welcome to that week!

I will say the way Ethan and Marcus have made their connection differs from any other story I've written. Usually there's a lot more getting to know you first. I enjoyed approaching the characters this way, where it's sex first and then they starting figuring everything else out.

Conventionally Yours

Have You Read Conventionally Yours?

Annabeth Albert's Conventionally Yours brought back a lot of memories from my college days. Two or three times a year a bunch of us would road trip to a Star Trek/sci-fi convention. There were quite a few held around the southeast that were easy for us to get to. We had a blast!

In this book, Conrad and Alden—not exactly the best of friends—end up cross-country road tripping to a gaming convention looking to score big at a tournament. This is an incredible enemies-to-lovers romance that has so many good feels. I absolutely loved it. And if audiobooks are your thing, this one is outstandingly read by Joel Leslie and Kirt Graves.

I hope you enjoyed this week's edition of Summer Heat. I look forward to having you back here next week for the first date!

Take care,
Jeff
