Several years ago, we visited Venice during the Carnevale di Venezia. We took hundreds of photos, rented costumes, and attended a gala dinner. Then, after a few surreal days, it was all over, and life was back to "normal" in Venice. So, I am sure the residents of Nice and Menton welcomed a bit of normalcy after the Carnaval de Nice (150th) and the Fête du Citron® (89th) finished for the year on February 26th.
While our friends on the Côte d'Azur enjoy a few days of reprieve, cyclists entering the 90th edition of the Paris-Nice: Race to the Sun are getting ready. The 8-stage race begins on March 5th in Yvelines, a commune between Paris and Normandy. Then, after many kilometres of flats, climbs, and time trials, there will be plenty of excitement on March 12th at the finish on the Promenade des Anglais in Nice.
The new Carrières de Lumières multimedia show, in Les Baux de Provence, opened on February 23rd. This year's immersive experience is a tribute to the Dutch masters "From Vermeer to Van Gogh," along with the short program
"Mondrian, the Architect of colour," which is sure to brighten the quarry walls. The program runs until January 2024. Make sure to buy your tickets online.
