Cultivated 🐟 ( and🥩) Take a Leap in Singapore: As a global market leader for alternative protein, it is not surprising to hear more “firsts'' coming from Singapore. Firstly, ImpacFat unveiled the world’s first cultivated fish fat at the Big Idea Ventures Demo Day in Singapore - this has the potential to offer both better-tasting fish alternatives and various omega-3 products for the health food market. Secondly, the first “hybrid-meat” innovation centre, combining cultivated and plant-based methods, will be built with investment from Meatable, a Dutch food tech company, and Love Handle, the Singapore-based plant-based meat producer.
APAC Alt Protein Industry Updates: It’s official - we’re calling it “cultivated meat”! Leading stakeholders have come to a regional consensus on terminology, forming an MOU with over 30 organisations to use the term “cultivated” to refer to the kind of alternative proteins produced through growing animal cells in a bioreactor.

Getting To Grips With Antimicrobial Resistance 🦠- To coincide with antimicrobial resistance awareness (AMR) week at the end of November, an important new global platform for AMR has been launched. Across the region, overuse of antibiotics combined with intensive farming is one of the main culprits, especially when intensive fish farming is combined with poultry farming.
