Layman - Missionary Society Joint Christmas Giving Effort

It has been a Pleasant Green tradition for the Missionaries to have a Pew Service where funds are raised to purchase Christmas fruit bags  that are distributed as Christmas Cheer to   HPGMBC shut-in members and others.   Likewise, the Laymen have an In-Harvest Gathering Service to raise funds to purchase Christmas boxes of groceries for distribution to needy families. Because of the Pandemic, the Layman and the Missionary Society are joining forces and distributing gift cards to needy families. Pleasant Green Family members are asked to contribute to this effort. Please add $20.00 to your offering for the Pew Service and $20.00 for the In-Harvest Gathering. These contributions can be designated on your offering envelope.  The funds  raised will go to the Layman-MIssionary Joint effort to bring cheer to our shut-ins and others.  Please include these contributions with your offering for  Sundays, December 6 and December 13.

"Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, [so let him give]; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver."  2 Corinthians 9:7 KJV

May God Bless you for sharing.!

Thank You So Much

Today's Bible Study:
"Called Through Heritage"

Aim: GRASP the significance of Jesus’ Earthly Heritage and His heavenly origins, WONDER at the depth and scope of God’s eternal plan to bring salvation through Jesus, and WORSHIP Jesus as God’s definitive word to humanity. Ultimately, to TRUST in Jesus Christ as Our Lord and Savior!

Background: Matthew 1;1-17; Hebrews 1

Bible Lesson: Matthew 1:1-6, 16-`7; Hebrews 1:1-5

Nuggets:

Matthew’s Passage:

  • The objective of Matthew’s geneology is to give proof and evidence that Jesus is the Messiah

  • Matthew’s geneology traces Jesus earthly lineage back to King David and Abraham, “Father of the Faithful”

  • Matthews’ geneology for Jesus is broken into 3 periods of fourteen generations,  14 generations from Abraham to David, 14 generations from David to Babylonian exile, and 14 generations from Babylonian exile to the Messiah. This leads to the phrase that Jesus came down through 42 generations to bring Salvation to Mankind. Technically, His mission was to make know Father God and to provide Salvation to Mankind.

  • Matthew’s geneology includes four women, who are not Jewish but Gentiles indicating the inclusiveness of God’s Salvation plan which is based upon Faith and exemplifies God’s Grace toward all humanity.

Hebrews’ Passage:

  • Proclaims that God has spoken to mankind many times and used many different methods through His prophets;

  • Exclaims that Jesus was in the express image of Father God and radiated His very Glory

  • Identifies Jesus as Creator and Sustainer of the World as we know it and that nothing was or is beyond His domain

  • Explains that Jesus’ death on the cross once and for all cleansed us from our sins if our faith and trust is in Him

  • Reports that Jesus is now sitting in the seat of Honor at the right hand of Father God continually interceding on our behalf with Our Father God.

  • Explains that Jesus was God in Flesh and that His position is greater than that of Angels, who were in days gone by were revered and held in high regard.

  • Exclaims that Jesus Name is above all other Names.

Summary Scriptures:

“Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:

That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of [things] in heaven, and [things] in earth, and [things] under the earth;” Philippians 2:9 -10 KJV

“The grass withers, the flower fades, But the word of our God stands forever." Isaiah 40:8 NKJV

“And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.” John 1:14 NKJV

Bible Study Questions

When Bible Study teaching resumes in January, 2021, Rev. Jones is entertaining Bible Study Lesson questions that can be discussed in a question and answer session following Bible Study.
