I gotta say, I had no idea how much WORK rehab after knee replacement surgery is. Paul’s doing great and is a remarkably patient patient. Maybe because his whole day and most of the night is focused on one thing and one thing only: him. 😉

I was buoyed by all of your answers to last week’s question. The key to an excellent recovery seems to lie in the patient’s willingness to give his/her all to the process. But I think at least some credit goes to his/her support team. If any of you were part of your loved one’s care team, give yourself a big pat on the back. I would pat my own back, but, honestly, I’m too tired.

But one other good thing to come from this is a cheap and easy recipe for the best Ice Pack I’ve ever used. I have to credit Paul’s physical therapist, Dr. Tony, with the suggestion. It really works—and think of all the bags of frozen peas you’re saving.

On Saturday, September 11th, most of the country will be remembering the horrific attack that changed life as we knew it twenty years ago. I’m glad people are remembering. I know I will never forget the images on my TV that morning.

But, in our family, September 11, is a day of joy. I will also never forget the moment my first baby, Kelly Ann, was born and changed my world forever.

And on Kelly’s sixteenth birthday, my niece, Amy, gave birth to one of the sweetest, kindest, most loving people I know: Laura. We love you, Laura!

Happy birthday, my beauties! You two are proof of the good in the world that helps so much to offset the bad.

Speaking of birthdays, Sunday, September 12, marks the 8th birthday of Tule Publishing. Being invited to submit to this revolutionary small press was another momentous occasion in my life. Tule, you truly are the best!

And to celebrate, everyone is invited to a day-long “drop-in” party at Tule’s Facebook page. If you’ve attended a Tule party before, you know there are great prizes and you can mingle with lots of authors. https://www.facebook.com/groups/TuleBookClub

PLUS, you can save 50% at Tule’s Bookshop Sept. 9-15! Use the code: TULE BIRTHDAY

That’s what I’m talking about!!!

Last week's Q&A was: Have you or someone close to you had orthopedic surgery? Asking for a friend. Signed, Nurse Deb LOL. 😉

Thanks a million for all your positive stories. I told Paul it’s all your fault if I have to nag him to do his physical therapy because nearly everyone who answered said the only way to get better is to DO THE WORK.

My two randomly selected winners this week are:

Michelle Vierra
and

Chris (earthlink email address)

(Michelle and Chris congrats. Please email me your pick of either a $5 Starbucks or a $5 Amazon gift card.)

Q&A

This week’s Q&A: Have you read any Tule Publishing books? If your answer is YES, and you’d like one of my new bookmarks, include your snail mail address in your answer.

(Two winners will be chosen by random drawing to receive either a $5 Starbucks gift card or a $5 Amazon gift card. Please reply the usual ways:
email or on my DebraSalonenAuthor Facebook page.

Happy reading, my friends.

Deb
