Contemporary artist Federico Gori’s (1977) etched and naturally oxidised copper artworks and a selection of artefacts from the renowned Guarnacci Etruscan Museum's collection come together in the art exhibition PROPHETIA.
Based on the critical role that the practice of divination played in Etruscan life and on their profound belief in the interconnection of all things in the cosmos, Gori's site-specific installation overall encapsulates the touching point between heaven and earth, between copper and terracotta, and between our contemporary times and the long past.
Resting directly upon the copper plates is a kaleidoscopic landscape of urnes, figurative fragments and amphoras in terracotta and alabaster, the precious heritage of the city of Volterra, one of the capitals of ancient Etruria (VIII - II B.C.).
