VALENTINE ZONE A Later in Life, Small Town, Second Chance/Reunion Romance (Secondhand Hearts Book 4) Available for Pre-order
Before Ellie could ask Becca what was bothering her, the door opened again, and Max walked in. Although heād said something about dropping by later, Josie hadnāt expected him this early. Mustāve been a pretty short and uneventful date. Not that it was any of her business. Sheād been called nosey in the past, but sheād learned there were some things you didnāt want to know so it was better not to ask. āOh, hey, Max, youāre back. How was your date?ā Josie made a face, upset with herself. Becca gave her a surprised look. Had her tone given something away, like the fact sheād been fretting about Maxās date all day? āWonderful. Amber and I have a great relationship. I give her anything she wants and let her get away with murder, and she loves me with all her heart.ā Josieās heart plopped into the steaming cauldron of spicy soup until he added, āBut when her pants need changing, I give her back to her mother.ā āHer pants?ā Becca grinned as if reading Josieās relief. āMy son and his wife take a Pilates class or something on Wednesday evenings. I donāt like to think of myself as a babysitter, so I call my time with Amber a ādate.'" Josieās heart, which had returned to her chest cavity, was making a terrible racket. She didnāt understand why. So he was unlike any man sheād ever datedāand there was a long list of them. Still, he was off-limits, and she needed to remember that.
