CEO REPORT

As this most extraordinary Term 2 comes to an end, our most important and exciting announcement is looking towards the future - NECOM group programs will restart in Term 3! 

Read on for further details about this very welcome development in the easing of restrictions during the coronavirus crisis. 

Throughout Term 2 this crisis did not deter us from delivering our core music education program - our teachers gave hundreds of individual instrumental and vocal lessons online to our students, created engaging resources for the NECOM Learning Hub and returned to some schools to ensure their classroom music curriculum continued. Read on for more news about our students achievements during this time.

Throughout this period the commitment to music education from students, parents and schools was incredibly inspiring. Thank you all for keeping NECOM sustained and going strong throughout these months and we can’t wait to see you in Term 3.

Choirs & Ensembles Return in Term 3

Yes! NECOM programs will recommence in Term 3 after the long recess due to COVID-19. Ensembles and Choirs will commence in Week 2 from Monday 27 July onwards. In preparation for this return, NECOM has worked diligently to implement extensive health and safety policies

Mini Minstrels Returns! Bonus Free Instrument Pack

Great news as New England Sings! can go ahead in 2021 as it has just secured a government grant of $10,000 from Destination NSW to help support delivery of our flagship choral project. As the largest choral event in regional Australia, New England Sings!

Student Spotlight - Violinist Rose Light

Each week the keen and talented 15 yr old violinist Rose Light, travels a 5-hour round trip from Coffs Harbour to Armidale for lessons with NECOM’s Head of Strings Joanna Fairs-Wu.

Armidale’s 1st Composition Eisteddfod

Armidale Eisteddfod’s only section to go ahead this year was the Composition Eisteddfod due to its conversion to a Zoom on-line presentation facilitated by NECOM Program Manager Corinne Arter and AMTA (Armidale Music Teachers Association).
