Dear USET/USET SPF Family,
The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has announced that the HHS Annual Tribal Budget Consultation (ATBC) will be held on April 18-19, 2023 at the Hubert Humphrey Building in Washington, DC. HHS will also hold one-on-one- meetings with HHS officials during the ATBC. Additionally, HHS released the dates for the 2023 regional Tribal budget consultations. More information on the meetings can be found in the Dear Tribal Leader Letter.
The ATBC provides a forum for Tribal Nations to share our views and priorities with HHS officials on national health funding priorities and make recommendations for the agency’s Fiscal Year (FY) 2025 budget request. The Biden Administration has not yet issued its FY 2024 budget proposal.
Following the Tribal Resource Session on April 18th, HHS will hold 30-minute timeslots between 12:30 – 5:30 pm ET for Tribal Nations to engage in one-on-one meetings with HHS officials. One-on-one meetings will only be offered in person. To request a one-on-one meeting, please email consultation@hhs.gov by 6:00 pm ET on March 17, 2023 indicated the agency/agencies you would like to meet with.
Following the ATBC on April 19th, 2023, HHS will host Regional Tribal Consultation sessions for Tribal Nations to discuss outreach, coordination, programmatic issues and overall concerns with HHS. HHS Regional Tribal Consultations to be held in the USET SPF region will be on the following dates:
- HHS Region 2: June 6, 2023
- HHS Region 1: June 27, 2023
- HHS Region 3: July 19, 2023
- HHS Region 6: August 22-24, 2023
- HHS Region 4: August 30-31, 2023
