Greetings mogwai and monsters, Today, I come bearing two pieces of book-related entertainment. First, say hello to author Jeff Elkins, who joined me for this week's Sci-Fi Chat. We talked about The Caves of Steel by Isaac Asimov, a sci-fi mystery novel from the 1950s about the strained relationship between a human detective and his robot companion as they try to solve a murder. The story holds up amazingly well for being over 60 years old. Well....most of it. Jeff and I have some good laughs about the funny bits that don't.
Second, get ready to leap into the action and hang on like hell with this week's sci-fi book, Lucky Universe by Joshua James. "Ambushed behind enemy lines and left for dead along with a handful of privates so green they actually respect his authority, Lance Cpl. Lucky Lee Savage has to master his inner demons, manage the ambitions of his foul-mouthed AI, and figure out what is tearing a hole in the fabric of space-time before everything goes tits up."
