Many thanks to Maddy Goshorn Media for this edgy book trailer. When I worked in BellSouth's Public Relations department, I partnered with its Media department to produce employee communications videos. Most were lengthy. Writing a script for a one-minute video to promote my own product pushed me way out of my comfort zone. Thank goodness for Maddy. She made it easy with her imagination, patience, and flexibility. I'd work with her again in a heartbeat. I'll use this trailer to promote The Demons Among Us on Amazon.
I recently wrote a piece of flash fiction as a prequel to The Demons Among Us. It will be used as a gift to those who sign up to receive my newsletter. As a thank you for being a loyal subscriber, I'd like to make this story available to you too. Entitled The Snake Slinger, it describes the first time the main character of The Demons Among Us meets her future boyfriend. Enjoy!
The first two books in this series aimed at Christian middle-graders, Shadow in the Dark and The Haunted Cathedral, kept me on the edge of my seat for several nights. Set in 1184 in a peasant village, the story follows the confusing, yet brave, experience of a young boy who lost his memory. While convalescing at a Benedictine abbey, he's nicknamed Alexander—Xan for short—by Brother Andrew. He befriends Joshua and Lucy, who help him track a frightening shadow that threatens the abbey. Lots of creepy twists and turns. Great for tween guys.
Affect is a verb. It influences or produces a change in something. Effect is a noun. It's the result of a change. So, if A affects B, then B feels the effect of A's action.
Examples: The tornado affected citizens within 20 miles of Atlanta. The effect of the tornado was devastating.
Join my launch team!
I would be honored if you'd consider becoming a member of my launch team. In a nutshell, you'd need to read The Demons Among Us and post your honest review on Goodreads, Amazon, and Barnes & Noble. It would be a bonus if you could talk up my novel on your social media accounts. The typesetters should have the manuscript ready for eReaders by the end of July. Please email me by June 30 at email@example.com if you'd like to join my team.
An online book club for tweens, teens and their parents!
The Storyteller Squad is hosting an online book club for teens and their parents. Each month, we feature a book and talk about it daily. We post author interviews, background research, ratings, reviews, and opportunities to receive giveaways. This month, we're reading Quest for Celestia by Steven James. Great for teens and adults, this stand-alone fantasy novel is a reimagining of The Pilgrim’s Progress. When 16-year-old Kadin’s health deteriorates after an encounter with a strange man, he embarks on an epic journey to determine the cause of his frightening condition.
