BOOK REVIEW
Shadow in the Dark
The first two books in this series aimed at Christian middle-graders, Shadow in the Dark and The Haunted Cathedral, kept me on the edge of my seat for several nights. Set in 1184 in a peasant village, the story follows the confusing, yet brave, experience of a young boy who lost his memory. While convalescing at a Benedictine abbey, he's nicknamed Alexander—Xan for short—by Brother Andrew. He befriends Joshua and Lucy, who help him track a frightening shadow that threatens the abbey. Lots of creepy twists and turns. Great for tween guys.
