Amended Agreed Order for Cleanup is Out for Public Comment
The Port of Olympia and the Washington State Department of Ecology are amending a legal agreement known as an “Agreed Order,” that requires the Port to clean up contamination in sediment — the mud, sand, and silt under the waters of Budd Inlet.
Under the revised Agreed Order, the Port will complete an interim action plan. “Interim actions” are cleanup projects that deal with part of the contamination at a site, so that cleanup can start happening before a full cleanup plan is ready. With this amendment, the Port will conduct additional environmental studies to address data gaps needed for designing the cleanup.
When the draft interim action plan is complete, it will be shared by the Washington State Department of Ecology and there will be an opportunity to comment.
