'Cycling Without Age Weymouth' launches into Dorchester
On Friday 8th July Cycling Without Age Weymouth held a launch event at Dorchester Community Church Café Area on Liscombe Street. The Cycling without Age team led by Des Lochrie (Chairman) gave a presentation to approximately fifty people explaining their passion for the charity which offers free Trishaw rides to people of any age who may have limited mobility whether short or long term, or anyone who would benefit from feeling the “wind in their hair.”
A variety of people attended including the new Dorchester Mayor Councillor Janet Hewitt, several Town and Dorset Council councillors, Jason Bowerman the Duchy Estate Manager, local residents, local care home residents and some local charities.
The presentation was well received, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their Trishaw ride around the Great Field afterwards, which used the two Weymouth based trishaws.
The charity needs to raise £10,000 and is now in the process of applying for grants and fundraising for their first Trishaw to be based in Dorchester.
