Summer sure is sneaking up fast. Here at the Farm the Nursery is thriving, the Markets are pumping, and while the end of the year is closing in, we're not slowing down yet!
We've got some exciting courses and workshops coming up, including a 2-day Introduction to Permaculture course, and our Earth Kids Summer Holiday Program will be running from the 12th-14th of December!
We've also launched our new Community Impact Program for corporates and other groups to experience a day at our city farm.

INTRODUCTION TO PERMACULTURE

Join expert permaculturist, Michael Wardle, over two days to learn how to grow food, build houses and create communities, and minimize environmental impact at the same time! It aims to inspire and empower you to use permaculture design in your everyday life.
You will learn what permaculture is, the ethics and principles of permaculture design, soil basics, composting, food production, animal systems, and social permaculture, so strap in for a huge weekend of learning!

Our theme for summer will be invertebrates and we'll be joined by guest presenter Jessa Thurman, author of Australia's Incredible Insects to teach the kids all about bugs!

CITY FARM FEST
Friday 1st December 2023 from 5pm
JOIN US FOR OUR ANNUAL SUMMER CELEBRATION!
Before we all go away to spend time with loved ones, let's come together as a community to celebrate the long days and short nights, the sun and the rain, and all we've accomplished this year.
There'll be plenty of live music, dancing, earth arts, and ceremony! Plus, we'll have a night market with food and drinks, a bar, and ethical gifts for last minute Christmas shopping!
Featuring Accomplice Collective, Carnaval Republic, Hannaka & Band, Huda the Goddess, I.AM.CHICA, and more, it'll be a night to celebrate and wind down the year with community!

SUMMER RAFFLE
As part of our summer celebration, we're also running a raffle!
We'll have first, second, and third place prizes worth $500, $350, and $150, as well as a $40 runner up gift pack!
Our prizes are ethical gift packs, which include festival tickets, workshops of your choice, City Farm Nursery vouchers, free coffee cards, NSCF cookbooks, tote bags and reusable coffee cups, plus plenty of other amazing gifts from our friends and stallholders!
We're aiming to raise $3000 from the raffle to go towards making our Farm wheelchair accessible.

Our new Community Impact Program has launched! This program involves one-day experiences for corporates and other groups to gain an introduction to permaculture, experience how we are implementing permaculture in practice, have an opportunity to contribute to our city farm and have a team-building experience. We are offering a 10% discount for any bookings made this year (including for 2024 visits).

Earth Arts is a FREE playgroup that runs at the Farm from 9am on Tuesdays and Fridays, and 6am Sundays. Children and adults alike can experience clay making, creative writing, music, painting, and more!

The Farm does not rely on government funding for its operations. We operate as a social enterprise running the City Farm Nursery, Sunday Organic Farmers Market, and our education programs. We appreciate the financial support of our community, if you are able please donate by visiting our website.
We also have an Australian First Nations Scholarship Fund and if you wish to donate to this please donate HERE and then contact finance@nscf.org.au to confirm this is where you would like your donation to go.
As a not for profit charity, all donations over $2 to our Environment Fund are tax-deductible.

VOLUNTEERS
You can get involved with our vibrant Farm community by becoming a volunteer. Volunteer areas include farming, nursery, construction, and kitchen. We also occasionally need people with professional or trade skills (even off-site help, if you canโt get to the farm): building, electrical, plumbing, welding, accounting, legal, to name a few.
On the first Tuesday of each month at 9:30am we hold a tour and induction for prospective volunteers. Please register your interest first with Emma at edufarm.mgr@nscf.org.au.
