Springtime growth at Pathway School

This school year looked very different from prior years at Pathway. We had a combination of online learners, hybrid learners, and in-person learners. It was an honor to watch our students stand up and give speeches for Speech Meet with such poise. I am so proud of each and every one of them. They have grown in flexibility, adaptability and have shown perseverance.

Students weren’t the only ones experiencing growth this past year. Pathway School itself made great strides with the help of dedicated parents, students, and board members during our Pathway of Hope Pledge-A-Thon. Our teachers and staff members showed extraordinary resilience and growth through gracefully directing multiple learning platforms. This incredible school has a wonderfully bright future ahead!

Fundraising Update

Our annual school fundraiser, Pathway of Hope, was held Saturday, March 20, 2021. Due to the ongoing pandemic restrictions, we changed our traditional in-person fundraiser to an online video presentation. With the generous support of our students, their families and friends as well as our faithful donors we were able to raise over $60,000.

Learning Center Update

We have seen great improvements in our students' Word Attack and Comprehension Skills through our Lindamood Bell programs: Seeing Stars and Visualize & Verbalize.

Through Seeing Stars, students work towards automaticity of symbol imagery, which allows for rapid recall of sounds and syllables.

In Visualize & Verbalize, we are developing concept imagery to strengthen comprehension skills and higher-order thinking.

Curriculum Update

Pathway is adopting a new Executive Functioning Curriculum for the fall. These Executive Functioning classes will be taught multiple times a week.

Executive functioning skills are the basis for planning, organizing, initiating, and following through with all tasks, assignments, and problems inside and outside of school.
