Autumn News 2019

A warm welcome to you all!  It's my very favourite time of year and as you can see, I've been getting seasonal (and experimental) with the textures! More about this piece a little later on!  I've had a wonderfully busy time since my last news edition and this is one of many projects I've been working on. So without further delay, here's my news!!

Cape Town!

I can finally reveal a piece of art I've been working on for some time. 'Cape Memories' was a commissioned piece for a lovely family, celebrating a big birthday as well as many wonderful times spent together in Cape Town.

There was so much to capture here. Beautiful beaches, wine farms, wildlife, African flora and national parks, to name a few. I loved learning about the culture, the iconic landmarks and the various townships. This piece certainly had it's challenges but I'm so happy with the end result! I'm delighted to say the recipient of the original was very happy too!

This also makes a happy addition to my 'World Collection' too!  'Cape Memories' has been published as a limited edition print.  Here's the link if you'd like further details.

Lake Como!!

Onto another part of the world!!!

I was super delighted that one of my 'Lake Como' limited edition prints was recently presented to the organiser of the Pavestone Rally 2019,  signed by all of the teams who took part!

This madcap car rally across Europe raised an incredible £133,000 for three great charities, The Rainy Day Trust, The Teenage Cancer Trust and Variety UK. The finishing line was in Lake Como, hence the print of choice!

New work!!

I've been dabbling with abstracts again. It's great to work in a different style occasionally and I've really been working the textures this time! I've been fraying, painting (yes painting), shaping, stitching and well, just making a jolly big mess in my studio! Great creative fun!

Using oodles of texture and colour, I've created two new pieces, inspired by two different themes.

Of course, with abstract art, an image can be interpreted and felt very differently through another pair of eyes! You may something else entirely and that's what makes this style of art so unique and thought provoking.

This piece speaks of the sea. Sand dunes, beach combing, glistening ocean, seashells and a salty sea breeze. This is inspired by all the coastal walks I have enjoyed, trips to the seaside and the wonderful South West coast path which I am lucky enough to have on my doorstep.

Here is the finished piece in it's contemporary frame. This has been glazed with non reflective glass to enable the textures to be fully appreciated.

This original piece is available to buy. It measures 23 x 18" and is priced at £595. It's not yet listed on the website but if you are interested in buying / viewing, please get in touch!!

'Dusk' is a piece rich in earthy textures and contemporary shades of nature at this glorious time of year. To me, this is an early evening autumn walk, a ramble through the bracken, a Dartmoor hamlet.  A warming piece in one of my favourite colour palettes. You may spot the piece is embellished with copper and gold leaf for a touch of autumn sparkle.

This piece can be viewed and purchased at Wildwood Arts  (link under the poster above). It measures 23 x 18" and is also priced at £595.  Delivery can be also be arranged. Please do get in touch if you'd like to know more.

Wildwood Art Exhibition Now Open!!

The wonderful Wildwood Arts gallery on Dartmoor are now running their Autumn / Winter exhibition. What a wonderful exhibition it is too, with wall to wall beautiful autumnal art. I have some work in this show, including a seasonal abstract piece!

For more information about the gallery and exhibition opening times, please visit www.wildwoodartsdartmoor.co.uk.

Me with one of my new abstracts,  'Dusk'.  This piece works so well with the array of seasonal work in the exhibition. If you look carefully in the picture above, you might spot my 'Autumn' piece too!

A few pics below from the opening night!

Thinking Ahead!!

As much as I hate to bring up the C word so soon but I've already had enquiries for Christmas gifts! There are some very organised people out there!  If you are looking to buy a gift of art this year, I do have some originals available on my website as well as a range of limited edition prints. I'm also more than happy to send gifts on your behalf with a written card. Gift vouchers are also an option if you can't make your mind up!!

I do welcome studio visits - do please make an appointment beforehand so I can make sure I'm there!!

Keeping Up!!

My studio this week! My workbench is filled with bright blues and greens - another colour palette I love. A bit of multi-tasking going on here... a commissioned piece I'm working on and a mood board of swatches for a new abstract piece. I often post pics like this on my social media and blog so people can see what I'm up to!!
