What kind of advice on life would I give to my younger self?

Hi

Are you fed up of waking up each morning to rain, grey skies and cold? Me too. If you’re feeling like me, I’ve put together a couple of easy tried and tested tips to help you get through this time of year.

1. ☀️ Light therapy - Get a light-box and bask in it every morning and lunch time if you can’t see the yellow sun OR even though we can’t see it when it’s grey, the sun is still outside so make the effort to still be outside.
2. 🍎 Eat well, watch out for carbs - Obviously we want bread and pasta goodness when it’s miserable outside but try and refrain, we need more vitamin D rich foods as we’re missing out on the yellow stuff!
3. 🏸 Stay active - Don’t let fatigue and lethargy take hold. Do a little a day - something that you enjoy is even better! Stay out of the gym and try sport-led movement like badminton, swimming etc - more space and more chance of fun!
4. 👫Be social - Us humans NEED social relationships, so make an extra effort to SEE friends and socialise to lift up those happy hormones.

💡 Best way to do all this is to plan it into your week, put it in your diary/calendar and make it happen!

Below you'll find the the new coaching tips section of the email, let me know how you get on with the questions .

🎙SELF CARE 101 PODCAST - Episode 23
Interview with a client - From depression to managing mental wellbeing.

This is a very special episode for me. I get to interview one of my clients, India who shares her journey from struggling with depression to thriving by learning how to manage her mental health. I met India at my first retreat, she came to me after leaving a job and not feeling motivated to do anything. She was low but she was hiding it. On the retreat itself, she opened up about a traumatic experience that snowballed into affecting her work and her mental wellbeing. As the topic of the trauma is still very sensitive, we won’t be disclosing it but trust me, it was traumatic and her life could have gone in a very different direction if she hadn’t found the strength within her to fight.⠀

I personally adore India. She is such a vibrant, infectious and beautiful person to be around - I’m sure you’ll see how fun she is on this show. We also talk a little about a topic that India and I are very passionate about, mental health awareness. Our opinions are pretty strong and I have to stress that every person must do what is right for them and that we are only sharing our own opinions from the experiences we have both had with depression.⠀
