As we enjoy the holiday season, Christmas is a great time to celebrate and remember that Jesus came to seek and to save us! This morning we look at bible verses focused on the greatest gift ever given to mankind! Matthew 1:20-21 explains…”But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.”
Isaiah 7:14 says…”Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.”
Isaiah 9:6 teaches…”For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.”
Galatians 4:4-5 states…But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.
And Luke 2:10-12 assures us… “And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.
To God Be The Glory for the miraculous, life changing birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. God sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through Him. Jesus came to give us eternal life. The birth of Jesus has forever impacted our lives and the entire world. The birth of Jesus gives us reason to celebrate our Lord and Savior not only during the Christmas season, but each and every day!

Pleasant Green Baptist Church’s
2024 Christmas Cantata
Dr. Lynn Smith
Pleasant Green's 2024 Cantata entitled, "The Lamb of God is Born," beautifully narrated the story of Christ’s birth through heartfelt music and scripture-based narration. The cantata, directed by Sister Diana Mabson, written by Sister Bettina Wright, and presented by our former First Lady, Sis. Delma Peoples, was a true celebration of Christ, the promised Savior. The church was full, the spirit was high, and the presence of the Lord could be felt by everyone.
The opening song, Glory to the Lamb, set the tone for the celebration of Jesus as the Lamb of God. Bow Down and Worship Him and O Come All Ye Faithful reminded us about the reverence of worship. The closing song, Emmanuel, one of Pleasant Green’s favorites, brought everyone to their feet in worship and praise. We were treated by two songs from the children of the church, including, Go Tell It On The Mountain. Reverend Tony Laine, then preached a moving sermonette, "Oh What a Night," from Luke 2: 6-14.
The message of the cantata reminded us that Jesus, the Lamb of God was born to bring salvation to all. It inspired us to reflect Christ’s sacrifice for us and renewed our joy and gratitude for the Christmas Season. It was a glorious day at Pleasant Green. It was truly a beautiful celebration of Jesus, the reason for the season.

A Youth's Reflection On
The Christmas Cantata
Brother Kered Anderson
My experience at today's Christmas cantata was amazing! Not only was it a full circle moment to be in the presence of familiar faces, but it was also great that I experienced service with members I'd never seen before! However, the connectedness in which I felt today while handing out mail letters to members of my church family was the highlight of my day. It allowed me to connect with them on a more familial level. Ultimately, today served as a testament of how unified our church family truly is! I pray we continue to worship together with such faith and congregate with one another with such brotherly love: the love that I saw today!
Brother Kered is the son for Brother Charles and Sister Heather Happy and the grandson of Sister Charlet McClellan and Brother Sammie and Sister Elizabeth Brooks and the great grandson of Sister Dorothy Jones.

Children's Reflections On The Christmas Cantata
Sisters Tileyah and Savana Haskins
Sisters Tileyah (1st grade) and Savanna Haskins (3rd grade) were both excited to make their choir debut at this year's Christmas cantata. "I was very happy to sing for my first time with the kid's choir," said Tileyah. Savanna agreed. "It was really beautiful because everyone's voices were singing and sounding so pretty," she said. They both exclaimed unanimously that they hoped to sing again and hear more about Jesus. "Today we learned more about why the shepherds followed the star to see Jesus, "said Savanna. Tileyah echoed, "The choir sang about the shepherds keeping watch." They both agreed that it was all, "so beautiful!"
They are the daughters of Sister Sharonica Gentry and the late Brother Michael Haskins and the granddaughter of Sister Dorothy Haskins.

Every holiday season brings an opportunity to spend quality time at home with loved ones. While some parents worry that time away from school might hinder their child's learning progress, most teachers emphasize the importance of rest and relaxation during breaks. Children need time to recharge and reset before diving back into their studies.
However, this doesn't mean you can't incorporate fun and engaging activities that stimulate their minds and keep them learning throughout the holidays. Here are 10 simple yet effective ways to foster learning and growth during the festive season:
9. Giving Back: The True Spirit of the Holidays The holiday season is an opportune time to instill empathy and a sense of community service.
Volunteer as a family: Find local organizations that need assistance during the holidays and volunteer your time and efforts.
Donate to charities: Encourage your child to donate toys, clothes, or non-perishable food items to those in need.
Acts of kindness: Spread holiday cheer by performing simple acts of kindness, such as helping neighbors or expressing gratitude to those who serve the community
10. Setting Goals Together: Embracing the New Year with Aspirations The new year brings a fresh start and an opportunity to set new goals and aspirations. Include your child in this process.
Reflect on the past year: Discuss their accomplishments, challenges, and areas for improvement.
Set goals for the new year: Encourage them to set SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound) goals for the upcoming year.
Create a goal-setting ritual: Start a tradition of writing down goals together and revisiting them at the end of the year to track progress and set new goals.

Name: Roman White
Grade / School: 5th / Maxwell Elementary School
Career Goals: Pilot or Firefighter
Why Career Goals: Pilots make a lot of money. They can fly anywhere they want - even around the world if they want to (do so). Firefighters help people. I would stop fires in Kentucky.
What do you want your church family to know about you? I like to do things like hanging out with my friends and family. I go to church every Sunday! I like to know new things.
What do you want your church family to know about GOD? God always watches over us even when we don’t know that He is. God is always protecting us. God created the world.

FLU
Flu is a contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses that infect the nose, throat, and sometimes the lungs. It can cause mild to severe illness, and at times can lead to death.
Flu shots are available at local pharmacies. Consult your physician regarding a flu vaccination.
RSV
Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a common, contagious virus that usually causes mild symptoms. In older adults and adults with certain underlying conditions, RSV can cause severe infections.
RSV shots are available at local pharmacies. Consult your physician regarding a RSV vaccination.
COVID-19
Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
Most people infected with the virus will experience mild to moderate respiratory illness and recover without requiring special treatment. However, some will become seriously ill and require medical attention. Older people and those with underlying medical conditions like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, chronic respiratory disease, or cancer are more likely to develop serious illness. Anyone can get sick with COVID-19 and become seriously ill or die at any age.
The best way to prevent and slow down transmission is to be well informed about the disease and how the virus spreads. Protect yourself and others from infection by staying at least 1 metre apart from others, wearing a properly fitted mask, and washing your hands or using an alcohol-based rub frequently. Get vaccinated when it’s your turn and follow local guidance.
The virus can spread from an infected person’s mouth or nose in small liquid particles when they cough, sneeze, speak, sing or breathe. These particles range from larger respiratory droplets to smaller aerosols. It is important to practice respiratory etiquette, for example by coughing into a flexed elbow, and to stay home and self-isolate until you recover if you feel unwell.
Both COVID vaccines and Booster COVID vaccines are available at local pharmacies. Consult your physician regarding COVID vaccinations.
