Saturday, April 22nd is Earth Day! This global, annual event, first celebrated in 1970, raises awareness of the importance of protecting our planet and its natural resources. It encourages people to engage in conserving the environment. Rallies, concerts, and tree-planting activities are among the many activities and events that take place on Earth Day.

TreeProject had a fantastic day out at the Womin djeka Balnarring Ngargee - community festival last Saturday. Thanks to all the visitors who took the time to have a chat with us, we truly appreciate it...but we have to say the most adorable visitor of the day was this little wombat who stole our hearts! :)

Why do we need to regenerate the land?

Who doesn’t love a good before and after shot of land that was degraded, dry, eroded, and desolate, changed into land that is flourishing with greenery, moisture, and wildlife?

That’s the essence of what TreeProject is all about. Regenerating land. It feels good. It looks good. But what is regeneration? Why do we do it? And what are some of the more specific benefits of replanting trees and regenerating soil?

Are you finding many more unwelcome visitors are now making a meal of your seedlings?

Our growers should now have sown all their seed and there should be several weeks of growth showing. At this stage, there has been lots of discussion on our Whatsapp group about pests and diseases. What to do about them and telltale signs.

The Grower manual contains heaps of information on common pests and how to control them.

LANDHOLDERS - TIME TO PREPARE FOR YOUR SEEDLINGS!

Winter is coming - give your new seedlings the best chance of survival by preparing the soil to maximise their growth

prepare the ground by ripping the ground to assist with aerating the soil and maximise root growth
fence off the area to stop young plants being eaten by animals
control weeds now - use of weedmats or chemical control
decide if you need fertilizer, and what type you will use.
