Dear USET/USET SPF Family,
The U.S. Department of Treasury has issued a Dear Tribal Leader Letter (DTLL) announcing a consultation to discuss the Small Business Credit Initiative (SBCI) technical assistance (TA) funding. The American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) provided funding for eligible jurisdictions to develop and implement TA plans to support very small businesses and businesses owned and controlled by socially and economically disadvantaged individuals (SEDI-owned businesses). Approximately $15 million in TA funding is reserved for Tribal Nations and may be used to, “provide legal, accounting, and financial advisory services” to very small businesses and SEDI-owned businesses participating in SBCI loan and investment programs.
This consultation is to hear from Tribal Nations on how TA funding can be equitably distributed among Tribal Nations participating in SBCI and how the SBCI TA program can be effectively implemented. The date, time, and registration information for this consultation is as follows—
To view the Discussion Questions for this consultation, please view the DTLL by clicking here. The deadline to submit written comments is May 15, 2022, by 11:59pm AK (May 16, 2022 by 2:59am CT/3:59am ET) and should be sent to tribal.consult@treasury.gov.
