Dear USET/USET SPF Family,
The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) will hold a webinar called “Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) Continuous Enrollment Unwinding: What to Know and How to Prepare.” The webinar will be held on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 from 12:00 – 1:00 pm EST.
During the webinar, CMS will provide a review of the Medicaid to Marketplace transition process for those no longer eligible for Medicaid, as well as information on the “Temporary Special Enrollment Period (SEP)” for consumers losing Medicaid or CHIP due to the unwinding of the Medicaid Continuous Enrollment condition. As the Public Health Emergency (PHE) declared during the COVID-19 pandemic comes to an end, state Medicaid programs will no longer receive additional federal funds to maintain their Medicaid rolls. As a result, state CMS programs are beginning redetermining the eligibility of their Medicaid beneficiaries and disenrolling ineligible beneficiaries in a process called Medicaid unwinding. It is estimated that nearly 250,000 Native American people could lose their health care coverage during Medicaid unwinding.
Interested attendees can register here. Recordings and transcripts of prior webinars can be found on the CMS National Stakeholders Call page.
