Pattern matching is a technique where the corsetiere carefully plans out, cuts and assembles the panels of a corset so that a picture or motif continues seamlessly around the body.

 Making a flat mural wrap around a curvy body is surprisingly tricky! Pattern matching requires a fair amount of time and concentration, and results in quite a lot of fabric waste, which is why matching typically comes with a higher price tag.
