Cheung’s Family & Alice (意大利接待交流生 / Italian host student, 2018-19)
2018年8月26日，我們的家庭多了一位意大利女兒Alice。當然一開始大家都需要時間適應，尤其是在生活習慣方面，例如晚上洗澡時如何分配浴室，Alice也需要適應中式的食物，習慣快速的生活節奏。
對孩子而言，這是一個鍛鍊自己及學習付出的機會。雖然他們有時候也會有些微言，但很快便會忘記，這讓我十分感恩，很高興自己的兒女是有愛心的。我們的相處十分和諧，能彼此包容和接納，學習對方的優點，Alice也很快融入我們的家庭。當然過程中偶爾會有不愉快，也曾因為文化差異而產生誤會，但最終都能順利化解，也讓我們學習如何解決問題。這個計劃的確極具挑戰性，但為我們帶來不少寶貴的回憶，在看到兒女的得著之後，我們更覺得這個體驗是值得的。
On 26th August 2018, a new member joined our family, our Italian daughter Alice. Of course at first we all needed time to adapt to the change, especially in term of habits like how to allocate the use of bathroom for shower at night. Alice also needed to get used to having Chinese food and the fast paced Hong Kong lifestyle.
For our kids, this is an opportunity for them to learn how to give love. Although sometimes they also complain, they forget right away, which I really appreciate. I am glad that my kids are caring and kind-hearted. In general we get along very well, we are also able to accept and learn from each other. Of course there were still misunderstanding caused by cultural difference, but at last they were resolved, during the communication process we also learned how to solve a problem. Being a host family is no doubt a challenging experience, but it brought us so much sweet memories. After seeing the growth in our kids, we would definitely say this is a worthwhile experience.
