The EU – Taiwan Matchmaking Event will take place in Berlin, Germany, on 10-12 June 2024 with a delegation of around 80 companies and trade organisations from Taiwan.
The matchmaking event will be held alongside the Taiwan Expo 2024, which participants will have the opportunity to join.

EU-South Med Matchmaking event in Frankfurt, Germany

The EU – South MED Matchmaking Event will bring together cluster organisations and SMEs from the European Union (EU), non-EU countries participating in the Single Market Programme/COSME Strand, and South MED countries: Morocco, Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine and Tunisia.
Explore the preselected South Med organisations.
Focus areas include green tech & energy, digital tech & ICT, mechanical engineering & manufacturing and pharma & biotech.
Participants will also be able to take part in ACHEMA 2024, the world's leading trade show for the process industries.

Clusters meet Regions in Milan: Navigating the Twin Transition & Innovation

|
The first Clusters meet Regions of 2024, and the first to ever be held in Italy, took place on 26 and 27 March in Milan. The event spotlighted the twin transition, sustainability and digitalisation challenges, particularly focusing on Lombardy's complex industrial landscape.
Organised by the ECCP, Regione Lombardia and Associazione Fabbrica Intelligente Lombardia (AFIL), the event drew over 160 participants from across Europe to discuss ecosystem models, clusters and innovation strategies, diving into new challenges, particularly within Lombardy's intricate industrial landscape.

Plastics made from gluten
|
|
The world needs renewable and environmentally friendly biodegradable alternatives to fossil resources. A promising option is gluten, as revealed by research in Sweden.
|
|
|
|
|
|
The adhesive protein from grains can be used to produce films, foams, or gels that can in turn replace fossil materials. When gluten is not needed, for example, to give pasta dough its elastic texture, it can be used to produce plastic. Gluten plastic even has something that benefits the food industry: it has a good fat and acid barrier, making it suitable for extending the shelf life of food packaging. It is also suitable for injection moulding, so it can be formed into switches or connectors, for example. Continue reading.

Triple Gold for Swedish Cluster Organisation Paper Province
|
|
Once again, Paper Province has demonstrated its status as a global leader among cluster organisations. For the third time, the Swedish bioeconomy cluster has attained the highest level of the EU’s quality certification, affirming its position as a Gold Label cluster. Currently, Paper Province is the only organisation in Sweden holding an active gold certificate and one of a total of 62 Gold Label clusters globally. Learn more.

Antonio Novo Awarded for Pioneering Industrial Collaboration Across Europe

This award celebrates the pivotal role played by Antonio Novo, president of the European Clusters Alliance, in nurturing European advanced innovation ecosystems, where industry, academia and public institutions collaborate seamlessly. His efforts have elevated clusters to become central to the European industrial landscape. This recognition was a highlight of the 10th anniversary festivities of the Spanish cluster SIVI, held in Valladolid on 12 April 2024.

EU-Ukraine Cluster Partnership Programme
The actions under this call will support Ukranian business integration in EU value chains and the development of cooperation projects and partnerships between European and Ukrainian clusters and business network organisations. They will also foster cluster capacity-building, the professionalisation of support for businesses, especially for SMEs, and strengthen economic ties between European and Ukrainian ecosystems, regions and cities.
