Here's how Lindsay did this handy job, in her own words!
"It's a pretty straightforward job that required no specialized skills! I used a one-inch putty knife to score around the edges of the doorknob plates and used the corner of the putty knife to scrape out the paint from the screws. 🛠️
Used a screwdriver to unscrew the plates. Put the plates in an old crockpot (did this outdoors, due to fumes) for about 8 hours with a dollop of dish soap. 🥘
Most of the layers of paint peeled right off, but there was one stubborn layer of paint remaining, mostly in the crevices, that I used a metal pick to carefully scrape off. 🧩
I used Barkeeper's Friend powder to shine them up (tested it in a corner to make sure it wouldn't totally ruin the finish first!). That's it!" ✨
