Happy 2023! I want to wish you a magical and prosperous new year and I hope the holidays were good to you!
Christmas for me was relatively quiet as one of the gifts we opened early was Covid. Not seeing my kids or that beautiful grandbaby was one of the hardest things ever! We made the best of it and ended up having our Christmas after the New Year which worked out wonderfully. Now that the holiday is firmly tucked away in plastic totes and cardboard boxes, I've had a chance to settle into a busy 2023.
Athena's Challenge is off for final edits, and the pre-orders are live! You can find the links below if you are interested, and for those on Goodreads, you can add it to your "To Read" shelves which helps me gain some visibility on launch day! Anywho, this story is a little different in that the Romance is LGBTQ. I wanted to hint at Tiresias's story in Greek myth, which is extremely interesting and wasn't one I was familiar with. I am also rolling in the story of Athena and Posideon's fight over Athens, and the propagation of the first olive, which is one of my personal favorite foods! Athena's story comes out on 2/5/23, and I am very excited to share it with you.
I have also completed Web Of Lies (A really ugly first draft) and will be working on that once I have my launch stuff set for Athena. That story is pretty set in my mind, I just need to take a few swipes at the manuscript to get it smoothed out. I hope to do that this spring and plan on a summer launch for Arachne's story. I have some writing retreats coming up, so I hope I can stay on task this year! My 2023 word is "Deliberate" so I am definitely starting with the right mind set! If you would like to see what goals I have set for myself, you can head to my end-of-the-year post for 2022 here: https://dahenneman.com/2022/12...
I will be moving forward on ordering some of my office furniture and getting my office back to rights. I am over working out of totes if I'm honest. The amount of books I have stacked about is overwhelming, and I have promised myself I won't buy any more until I have my shelves up. You can see what I am reading and my most recent purchases below. It is varied to say the least!
And one of the most exciting things that happened over the holidays is that I got a new car! Well, new to me, it was a lease trade-in, but still! It was time for my older model to be turned in, and I am super happy with my purchase so far! I am even more excited to have a reliable car I can go on road trips with, so will be posting those shenanigans later in the year.
More exciting news is listed below, so in the meantime let me know what you are reading and have a wonderful January!
XO
