Dear USET/USET SPF Family,
On December 20, 2021, the Department of the Interior (DOI) issued a Dear Tribal Leader Letter announcing Tribal consultations on the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (P.L. 117-58). Under the law, DOI received $466 million for the Bureau of Indian Affairs to invest in infrastructure projects and climate resiliency initiatives. DOI also received nearly $1.5 billion for wildfire management programs and $455 million for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to advance habitat restoration, invasive species control, and conservation of at-risk and listed species. The infrastructure law also allows Tribal Nations to use Coronavirus Fiscal Recovery Funds to meet non-federal match requirements. For fact sheets on the infrastructure programs as well as a framing paper with questions for the consultation, please refer to the Dear Tribal Leader Letter.
