After a nice relaxing vacation, it was great to be back in August and meet more of you in the English-speaking community.  Despite the hot weather this month, we still managed to enjoy our outdoor activities.  

In August:

• we held a Parents in the Park meetup where several families were able to get together.  
• we had our first walking group activity at the Grande Plée Bleue where we enjoyed an interesting guided tour teaching us all about the peat bog, how it formed and its uses, and about the different plant and animal species found there.  (For those who missed out on this activity last month, we are going again in September - scroll down to find out more!)
• we met up with members of the Voice of English-speaking Quebec at Quai Paquet to enjoy the sunset.  We were so chatty we didn't even get around to playing any of the board games we'd brought!
• for our second walking group, we went to the Chaudière Falls.  It was a great opportunity for a leisurely stroll and chat.

You may already know of some Facebook groups that exist such as "Anglophones living in Quebec City"...  

We realised there was a lack of such groups for people in the greater Levis area so we have created a NEW group on Facebook called "English speakers living in Levis & the south shore area". 

You can find the group here and ask to join.

All levels of English-speakers are welcome.  We hope that people will be able to use this group to enrich and build a vibrant English-speaking community on the south shore. It's a place to share helpful info and tips with others, to support each other by asking for help and finding out about services available in English in the area. It's also somewhere to chat and interact, find out about social events happening nearby and share a laugh about what it’s like to live as an anglophone in Levis!

Please feel free to invite any other English-speakers that you know living in the Levis and the south shore area to join!

Guess who now has an Instagram account?!  That's right, it's the South Shore English Network!  If Facebook isn't your thing, you can now follow us on Instagram here!

Unfortunately due to the weather, we had to postpone our Gathering at Quai Paquet for seniors way back in July - but it is now back on!  Our friends from the north shore will be coming over on the ferry to spend the afternoon with us at Quai Paquet.  This is your opportunity to get out and chat with some new people, enjoy something tasty from the food truck and appreciate the stunning view over the river!  Don't miss out!

If you weren't able to attend last month, then this is your chance!  (See the photos on the left in the August roundup above.)  

We will be doing another free guided tour in English of the Grande Plée Bleue.  This is a fantastic activity for all ages.  The guide will explain all about the peat bog - how it formed and its uses, and about the different plant and animal species found there.  There are also some animal skins and artifacts to see in their building.  

The walk is 3.km long over flat wooden board walks which are accessible for strollers.  It should take around 2.5 hours to 3 hours.

SSEN will manage the reservation on behalf of the group, you simply need to sign up below!  We will all meet in the parking lot just infront of the building.

The wonderful Andréann will be joining us to lead a yoga class with a fantastic view over the St Lawrence river.  All ages and abilities are welcome to join.  The class will be tailored to the participants so  everyone will be able to take part and enjoy the movements.

From the parking lot at the Jetée d'Ultramar, you take a very short walk along the cycle path to find the park.
