An attempted robbery was reported aboard a Hong Kong-flagged Cargo Vessel while it was underway in the Phillip Channel, Singapore Strait.

Up to eight perpetrators, one of whom was armed, were observed in the engine room before fleeing the scene. No items were reported stolen, the crew remained safe, and the vessel continued its voyage to Singapore.

This incident brings the total number of reported incidents in the region to at least 37 this year, with 24 of those exhibiting similar characteristics and occurring within the Singapore Strait area.
