As we move to remote instruction for the first two weeks of Spring 2022, making a meaningful connection with your students and providing them with a safe space to interact with their peers can help set the tone for a successful and rewarding semester despite uncertainties.
Due to the challenges of our time, you have been well equipped with the experience, tools, and knowledge to teach students in a variety of modes. As an exemplary example, the School of Law has made great strides in improving learning outcomes, be it online or face to face instruction, through the effective use of a tool called FeedbackFruits.
What is FeedbackFruits?
FeedbackFruits is a comprehensive tool suite that promotes student to content, student to student, and student to teacher interaction. It supports all modes of teaching and improves student performance through asynchronous or synchronous activities. It is integrated seamlessly in Blackboard improving students’ learning experience and reducing teacher’s workload.
How can I incorporate FeedbackFruits in my teaching?
Promote Flipped Learning
Flipped learning allows students to engage with content and activate prior knowledge long before class time allowing you to focus on executing hands-on activities and developing lessons that encourage students to apply, evaluate and analyze knowledge in real-life scenarios.
The interactive video, audio, document, and comprehension tools can prepare students to take a step further and undertake challenging activities. Since students are actively engaged, this can help them retain knowledge and make new, meaningful associations with the information at hand.
Additionally, students’ learning experience is not done in isolation. They can interact and learn from their peers. Most importantly, data is collected in these activities. You may use this information to check for understanding and plan remedial activities or academic interventions if there are topics that students struggle with.
