I've been really intentional when deciding on my next big thing.
This quote by Sam Altman in his famous writing the days are long but the decades are short has always been at the back of my mind.
“I am willing to take as much time as needed between projects to find my next thing. But I always want it to be a project that, if successful, will make the rest of my career look like a footnote.”
Over the past year, I've dabbled in many things, thanks to my friend Nathan (who is an awesome life coach) who I talked to when I was figuring out what my next thing would be. At that time I had no clue. He advised me to try new things & treat life as an experiment. In 2020, I spun up a ton of mini projects, added skills to my arsenal and made many new friends, while doing some client work on the side. I learned so much about myself and what fuels me through this series of experiments.
I knew that when the perfect job came, I would know, because it would be so perfectly aligned with my vision, passion & skills. This job is it. I truly believe that On Deck is building the future of education. On Deck will help catalyze opportunities and unlock talent thousands of people each year, and I'm lucky that I have the chance to be part of the early stages of this rocketship. There's just so much upside here.
I'm not as eloquent as Erik Torenberg (the co-founder of On Deck), so I'll leave his recap about On Deck in 2020 & where we are going here. It's so exciting and working with KP in the no-code fellowship is deeply aligned with my interest in helping others to create.
If you're looking to explore your next big thing, I highly recommend checking On Deck's programs out. There's something for everyone. If you're a future founder, writer, podcaster, or into health, climate tech, public speaking, course creation and even community building, there is something for you. Feel free to hit me up if you have questions!
