Run for the Trees!
No, it's not a warning of the zombie apocalypse. It's a heads-up for a fun little event taking place next April. I think I may have mentioned the Happy Little Trees virtual 5k when we got back from our sojourn to Georgia to meet with fellow state parks foundations. The good people at our Michigan counterpart had started the initiative a few years ago, raising funds through hosting a virtual 5k to support tree planting efforts. This year, they have opened the event to other states and will be sharing the wealth of tree-planting funds with others.
Like us!
So between April 22 and 26 registered runners/walkers/movers of all kinds will take place in a virtual 5k challenge. We're planning on some not-so-virtual events as well.
Registration is open now, with all participants receiving a tee shirt, a finisher's medal, and a commemorative bib number. And if you pick Pennsylvania as the recipient of your registration fund, you'll know there's at least one tree you helped put in the ground.
So stay tuned as our plans develop but feel free to sign up early. And be sure to pick "Pennsylvania" from the dropdown on the registration page.
And check out our own painting class with certified Bob Ross instructor Justin Hoyle streamed live on November 11, 2020 and recorded for posterity on our YouTube channel.
