Farnham Lions help with fuel bills this winter

Although fuel prices are a little lower than last year, Government assistance is more limited and will only partly cushion the blow so there is still a significant gap to be filled. Coupled with the general rise in the cost of living, this is going to make this a very difficult winter for many families in the Farnham and Haslemere areas. Consequently, for the 12th year, Farnham Lions are proud to be launching Project Wenceslas again. Lions are inviting those who receive a Winter Fuel Payment and who feel they don’t need it to donate it to the Farnham Lions Wenceslas Fund to help local people and families who will be finding it hard to keep warm and cook in the coming months. They also welcome donations to this cause from anyone else who would like to help...

Wine&Earth Portfolio Tasting

Join the founding team of Wine&Earth for an exquisite portfolio tasting to celebrate the launch of their new brand and try a curated selection from their expanded portfolio of exquisite wines.

You'll hear inside stories from the vineyards, learn about some of their sustainable practices, and of course, be guided on a voyage of palate-delighting discovery with the help of their wine comperes.

We have 10 competitions in our November issue!

The Friends Autumn concert series at St Bartholomew’s Church, Haslemere GU27 1BS.

The concert takes the form of a Bach day (feel free to drop in and stay for as long as it suits you). 10am Organ masterpieces (46 min); 11am Popular Bach (41 min); Light lunch provided; 2pm Chamber music (Bach in Cothen); 3pm Bach and the chorale; 4pm Cantata concert (Cantata 150); 5pm End. Free admission with retiring collection.

Bordon Bridge Club - Open Evening

Bordon Bridge Club would like to invite you to a relaxed and friendly evening of bridge at Whitehill Village Hall. All standards are welcome, including beginners. The Arts Society Horsley Lovelace
Wednesday 15th November
Attend a wide ranging programme of lectures on the arts. Lectures start at 10.30am and are held at the East Horsley Village Hall, Kingston Avenue KT24 6QT. Coffee is served beforehand from 9.45am. The next lecture is 'In the Kingdom of the Sweets - all about The Nutcracker' by Nigel Bates. New members are welcome. Visitors pay £5. This is a festival that explores all aspects of mental health and wellbeing. Our goal is to increase awareness about what can be done to support one’s own emotional and mental health and to empower people to reach out for support when it is needed for themselves or others. The Art Society Haslemere

The AGM will be followed by Art Historian Sarah Burles remembering Marie Bracquemond - the Unknown Impressionist. This fascinating lecture will explore the life and work of Marie Bracquemond (1840- 1916) - possibly the most important Impressionist you’ve never heard of - who, together with Berthe Morisot and Mary Cassatt, exhibited alongside artists such as Monet, Renoir and Degas.

Diabetes UK: Guildford and SW Surrey Group

They have another coffee morning scheduled at Yvonne Arnaud Theatre, Guildford. The coffee mornings are doing very well and helpful for people with diabetes to meet others the same. Contact bandcdavey@outlook.com for more details.
