Have you heard of "Dynamic Recruiting"?
Join us for our next Monthly Membership Workshop on December 1st at 7pm, we will be discussing implementing a Dynamic Recruiting plan, the importance of Normal Friend Activities (NFAs), and some winter NFA ideas!
What are Normal Friend Activities?
Hosting monthly Normal Friend Activities (NFAs) is a great way to consistently welcome new families to try out Scouting. You can hear from the team at the National BSA Office on Dynamic Recruitment by watching their recent webinar at https://vimeo.com/749593689
Add NFAs to your Unit’s calendar and make the event intentional. Ask families to submit 3-5 non-Scouting families’ contact information to invite to future NFAs, create a master list, track who came, and didn't join at the event, and follow up accordingly.
There is a tried-and-true approach called the “Feel, Felt, Found” technique. This method can turn “maybes” into “joiners”.
For example, if families say they are already too busy to join another activity, a Unit Leader can respond using the “Feel, Felt, Found” technique like this:
- (Feel) "I understand what you’re saying."
- (Felt) "I felt the same way at first."
- (Found) "You know what I found? It was so great to have one night that our entire family was all attending the same event. It allowed us more quality time.”
You’re making a connection and relating their concern to your personal experience.
